Dissemination Policy of TRAINS/WITS

¦¦ Internet Version ¦¦

Government offices, including national TRAINS Focal Points, regional groupings participating in the INTERACTIVE TRAINS information system, could have unrestricted and free access by contacting TRAINS System Manager.

As regards other interested parties, e.g. enterprises, chambers of commerce, etc. accessing TRAINS for the first time , they are invited to make a voluntary contribution of at least $5,000 to the UNCTAD TCMIS Trust Fund. These donors will then also be provided with free and unrestricted access for a period of one year.

For donors from developing countries , and countries in transition, half of these amounts are expected, while from the LDCs among them one quarter. From universities and research institutions in these three types of countries again half of these corresponding amounts are expected.

From the second year onward , the requested contribution will be half of the first year amount from each category of users.  Past donors for TRAINS CD-ROM of any version are NOT considered as first time user of TRAINS/WITS, and therefore the contribution requested from them, from the first year, will be half of the first time users.

(See the Minimum Contribution Chart for details)

Users of TRAINS/WITS must adhere to a licence agreement. The TRAINS/WITS may be used only for the Licensee's own internal purposes. It may not be sold, rented or otherwise provided to any third party.

The contributions are used to cover costs of data collection, data entry and data processing and will gradually compensate for declining support from extra-budgetary sources. Contributions should be made to the UNCTAD Trust Fund :
