New publication released: Monograph on the Role of Positive/Enabling Measures in MEAs

Pre-UNCTAD X Seminar "Making Foreign Direct Investment Work for Sustainable Development" was held 15 November 1999 in Geneva. See: UNCTAD Note to Correspondents No. 35 and background information and documents.

First workshop for the project "Strengthening Research and Policy-Making Capacity on Trade and Environment in Developing Countries" was held in Los Banos, Philippines, 11-13 November 1999.

A joint UNCTAD-International Rubber Study Group Workshop on "Rubber and the Environment: Opportunities for Internalizing Environmental Costs and Benefits in Prices of Rubber and Rubber Goods" was held on 7 November 1999 in Veracruz, Mexico.

Countries involved include: Bangladesh, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, India, Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda. The project is being implemented by UNCTAD in collaboration with the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD).
