joint UNCTAD-International Rubber Study Group Workshop
on "Rubber and the Environment: Opportunities for Internalizing
Environmental Costs and Benefits in Prices of Rubber and
Rubber Goods" was held on 7 November 1999 in Veracruz,
Mexico.

Press Release on the launching of the above project,
funded by the UK s Department for International Development
(DFID). Countries
involved include: Bangladesh, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba,
India, Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia and
Uganda. The project is being
implemented by UNCTAD in collaboration with the Foundation
for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD).
Workshop launching the project was held in Geneva on 24-26
