1. In United Nations standard usage:
Palestine refers to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the
political/diplomatic representative of the Palestinian people. The
occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) refers to the areas occupied by
Israel following the 1967 war, namely the West Bank, including east
Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip (WBGS), covering together 6,170 square
kilometres. The Palestinian Authority (PA) refers to the self-governing
authority established by Palestine/PLO following the 1993-1994 peace
accords with Israel to administer interim self-government arrangements in
the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
