Poor farmers have little chance of getting a fair price for their produce if they don't know how much markets beyond their villages are willing to pay. Infoshare gives commodity producers access to the information they need to negotiate better prices and get their produce into higher-paying markets.
Infoshare consists of a shared database accessible over the Internet and mobile phones. It equally trains the actors to understand and analyse the information on commodity markets.
Infoshare enables partners to collect,
analyse and disseminate information on:
*Prices (prices paid to producers, export
prices, import prices, futures prices, auction prices, local market prices,
etc.), *Intermediary costs (inputs, domestic
transport, storage, inspection, fees, etc.), quantities sold by grade,
various quality standard, as well as lists of exporters, interest rates
*Useful data related to the marketing chain.
INFOSHARE gives commodity producers access to the information they need

• An open and shared
database accessible over the Internet ;
• Training
for the benefi ciaries of the project, to help them understand, analyse
and use commodity information ;
• Training in the
use of the database.
