Carbon Market Fora

The Policy Forum was established in June 1997 by UNCTAD and the Earth Council, with the advise of Centre Financial Products Limited of Chicago (now renamed Environmental Financial Products Limited). The aim of the Policy Forum is to provide timely support to interested governments, corporations and non-governmental organizations to launch a plurilateral greenhouse gas emissions market by the year 2000, in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol. The activities of the Forum will be overseen by a Steering Committee, to be co-chaired by Mr. Maurice Strong and the Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Mr. Rubens Ricupero. Other Steering Committee Members are: Mr. Dirk Forrister (Vice Chairman), Mr. John Cuddy (Vice Chairman), Ms. Stephanie Foster (Secretary), Mr. Frank Joshua, Mr. Douglas Russell, Mr. Richard Sandor, and Mr. Michael Walsh. UNCTAD and The Earth Council, as sponsors of the Forum, will ensure regular coordination with the Climate Change Secretariat.
