FOSS partners

Several MoUs are under development and their finalization will be posted on this website along with information on partner activities.

UNCTAD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Novell. More details on Novell training activities can be found here.

During WSIS II, held in November 2005, in Tunis, UNCTAD and the Government of Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding promoting FOSS training and education.

Most recently, UNCTAD and the Free and Open Source Software Foundation of Pakistan also concluded a Memorandum of Understanding.

The scope of the MoUs will focus on developing human capacity to use, customize, localize, develop and service free and open source applications. Establishing new and contribute to existing conduits and structures for collaborative software development and distribution, and improving the quality of national and international policy formulation on the issues related to free and open source software are important issues as well.

The partnerships will base their activities on the principal of supporting local training initiatives that, while viable without Partnership support, may however greatly benefit from it.
