Purpose of the meeting and expected
outcome

The meeting will bring together government and business leaders from the field of ICT who will examine the different policy options for the development of e-commerce in the
Asia-Pacific region and, based on best practices, identify key elements of national and regional e-strategies.

The declaration will feed into the regional preparatory discussions of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). As the WSIS will focus on a wide range of ICT-related themes, this will be an opportunity for Governments to make a practical, action-oriented contribution.
