Call for Participation in the Global Consultation on the BioTrade Standard

The BioTrade Initiative is supporting the ECL AP Secretariat in the global consultation on the "BioTrade verification framework for Natural Ingredients", the standard that will guide all companies in this sector working towards compliance with the BioTrade Principles and Criteria.

On behalf of the Union for Ethical BioTrade, the BioTrade Initiative would like to extend an invitation to those involved in biotrade activities to register and offer inputs into this document. It is very important that as many biotrade actors as possible participate in this process. This will help to shape the present document, as well as give international legitimacy to the BioTrade Standard.

The first consultation of the first draft of the document has now ended. However, a second draft of the document will be available on ECL Space for a second phase of consultation. This will be open until 22nd April 2007. If you did not take part in the first period of consultation, you will need to register to provide comments on the standard. You do not have to have commented on the first draft to comment on the second.

How to register

You can register by clicking here, or through the 'Member Login' link at the top of the page of ECL Space. You will be asked to provide two names to support your application. This can be anyone you know, provided they have an email address.

Log in  >  click on the square: "Guidelines in Development" (on the left)  >  click on the link: "UEBT Verification Framework for Natural Ingredients".

You will then be asked to:

§   download the second draft of the standard

§   introduce your comments in the grey boxes provided.

§   upload the document with your comments through the site (using the "post reply" button).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at biotrade@unctad.org or telephone on +41 22 917 5607.
